I borrowed this watch from my friend Joye, the watch still has the full packaging thanks to Joye, truthfully Joye is a microbrand mastermind himself but I won’t be talking about his brand today, I’ll mainly be talking about Farer.
In this post, we’re going to dive into Farer’s Lander watch, a fine timepiece from British microbrand Farer. We’ll provide a comprehensive review from a variety of perspectives, including experience, specs, brand background, and personal preferences.
Described as the cool art watch relative of Chronoswiss, Farer is unconventional and likes to experiment with color and design. The watch is named after British explorer and journalist Grace Marguerite Hey Drummond-Hay, who traveled around the world on a zeppelin.
In the watch market, every brand’s marketing strategy attempts to position its product as unique in the market. However, styles and concepts are constantly being updated, and truly unique concepts are very rare. In this highly competitive environment, watch brands must find a way to stand out.

First of all what is a microbrand? A microbrand is a watch company that produces watches in limited quantities, usually focusing on specific styles, and does not have a lot of resources to produce their own in-house movements or other proprietary parts. Of course everyone will have their own answer to this question, but of course they are certainly not well known brands, they are very small, which is why they are called “micro”.
There are micro watch brands all over the world, with the US and the UK having the most micro branded watches, and China having some brands that only produce “homage watches” that are sold on Aliexpress, with exceptions such as Baltany, which is a respectable brand that produces a lot of interesting vintage watches. models that are worth a look.
Oh, Let’s get back to business.
In the world of micro-brand watches, Farer stands out for its unique design and exceptional quality. Today, we’re going to take you on a tour of the Farer Lander Blue, a watch that manages to strike a balance between formal wear and everyday wear with its elegant looks and practical features.
With the purchase of a Farer watch, you will receive a sophisticated fabric travel case with Farer’s iconic logo in a dark blue hue.Included in the case is a warranty card promising a 5 year movement warranty, a branded polishing cloth, and an informational booklet that also serves as an operating guide, which is always a pleasure to own even though very few people will ever bother to read it. The watch is secured by a clasp to ensure safety and security as you travel the world.
Specifications
The Farer Lander Blue case is made of 316L stainless steel and is equipped with a curved sapphire crystal. The case diameter is 38.5 mm, the lug distance is 43.8 mm, and the thickness is 10.5 mm. The crown is a push-pull design, the size is 5.8 mm, and the strap width is 20 mm. The watch is equipped with a SW216-1 Elabore-level movement and has a water resistance of 50 meters. The strap is Farer’s iconic lion brown Grano leather, which has an outstanding texture. In addition, the watch also provides a 5-year movement warranty service.

Personal Preference
Farer watches have always appealed to me for their uniqueness, especially the Farer Lander collection. However, I’ve always been hesitant between the cost and the alternatives, which is one of the reasons why I’ve been hesitant to make a purchase. This Lander watch was purchased by me on eBay for £400 (~$515), while it usually retails new for around £945 (~$1,215). If you choose to purchase the strap and metal bracelet, the price will be even higher.
Value Assessment
This high-polished 316L stainless steel cushion-shaped case is visually very attractive, but as a high-polished material, it is easy to pick up fingerprints and minor scratches. The watch’s bezel is cleverly designed and may not be easy to detect at first glance, but its presence adds a low-key sense of fashion to the watch. The transparent caseback shows the SW216-1 Elabore-level movement, decorated with blue screws and Farer’s iconic arrow pattern.
To summarize
The Farer Lander Blue watch has won over a lot of watch enthusiasts with its Swiss-made status, unique cushion-shaped case, bold design elements, and the precision operation of the Elabore grade movement. While the thickness of the band doesn’t quite match the elegant design of the watch, it’s certainly a good choice if you can get it at a great price.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Farer Lander Blue watch. Do you think it’s worth buying? Are there better options on the market? Feel free to share your views in the comments section.
